Going Home Orders, May 1945

Title

Going Home Orders, May 1945

Description

Copy of US Army V Corps Official Orders for transport back to the USA after termination of European hostilities. Selection of troops to be returned to the USA was as a result of individual "service points" primarily based on Overseas time served and length of service. After three years overseas, beginning in June 1942 and fortunate to survive 335 combat days (including the DDay Assault on Omaha Beach - Normandy),returning to be with my wife & child for the first time in three years was truly a time of great joy and thankfulness.
